EOTD: Deep Truth

I am in love with experimenting with make-up.
Finding a new way to do my make-up is a great pleasure to me. Last week I did a make-up look with a pop of colour, but it wasn't a traditional pop of colour.

I started with a basic make-up look. I used MAC's "Espresso" in my crease and "Satin Taupe" on my lid after priming with my MAC pro longwear concealer.
I have been wanting to try MAC's "Deep Truth" for a while now, it's a gorgeous blue colour but I didn't want to go over the top.

I added it above my liquid eyeliner (particularly in the inner corner of my eye) and on my lower lashline, that way, it's still very wearable, but you have a really lovely pop of colour.
To make the blue even brighter, you can always just wet your brush a little bit.

Eyeliner and mascara are by Essence!
What do you think of this make-up look?

OOTD: All Beige

Hi you guys!
I'm finally back with an outfit of the day! The weather has been so bad lately, I'm so glad we finally had a dry afternoon to shoot outfit pictures!

I've been working night shifts lately so at night it's very cold, that's why I picked this outfit. It keeps me warm. Sometimes.
Normally I also wear my burgundy blazer, but I forgot to wear it for the outfit post! I'm sorry!

Essence All About Matte BB cream review

Hi there! What's going on?
I'm here today to tell you all about my newest BB cream. As you might know, I'm the biggest fan of Catrices BB creams, but apparently they disappeared... so I had to look for something else!

This one by Essence is the one I chose to replace my favourite BB cream with. I have never tried it before but... I mean, I have a beautyblog so of course I'm going to test it! That's what I'm here for!

First things first I'm the realest: packaging. The BB cream comes in a tube, which I like a lot!
This packaging is beige and pink, which is so adorable! I sometimes think that the Essences make-up stand looks a little childish, but this, I like!

This is what my face looks like before using any product. As you can see, I have a few moles but I also have some old acne scars.

This is what my face looks like after using the Essence BB cream. My acne scars are gone. My moles aren't, but that's not what I wanted anyway (no foundation in my collection does that).

As promised, the BB cream is oil free, which is really good because I have oily skin. I only have one remark: the colours are pretty limited. I'm sure not everyone will find there colour, there are only two or three colours available.

I'm pretty happy with my new BB cream. It works well, it's budget, I love it!
That's how easy make-up can be sometimes!

Have a good day!

Book haul: MATCHED

I'm back with another book haul!
Lately, the Young Adult section in my bookstore has been filled with tons of really interesting books! The book that I got this time - called "Matched" by Ally Condie - is a book that I've been wanting for a very long time.
It's the first book of a trilogy.

However, my bookstore can't keep it in stock (must really be a great book), so I had to order it.

The cover of this book is so, so beautiful!

So this book actually reminds me of "Delirium" a lot. (Read my Delirium bookreview and Pandemonium bookreview).
Just like in "Delirium", the government matches people to each other and decide how many kids they can have, but they accidentally match someone to two people.
What to do?

I'm really excited to see what's going to happen! Of course I will review these books!

Have a good day!

Manicure Monday ♥ Be berry!

Hello everyone!
Today's post is a litte different, I have a Manicure Monday for you guys!
I rarely post Manicure Monday's because I don't like my nails (I used to bite my nails for years and years) but it's been almost a month and I haven't touched them.
I'm quite happy (and proud!) and I decided a little bit of nailpolish would be nice!

I used a colour by Essence called "Be berry now". This colour is just a lovely summer colour and I instantly get happy when I see it!

This colour is from Essences Colour&Go line, and it's basically really cheap. I think you pay about €1.69 for a nailpolish.
It covers perfectly with two layers.

I'd say try this one out if you have the chance, I'm a big fan already!
 Thanks for reading!

Weekly Diary

Hello everyone!
How are you doing on this rainy Sunday? Before I'm shutting off the computer to go shopping, I want to tell you a little bit more about my week.

This week I started working at Volvo! It's a student job and even though I didn't know what to expect, I am quite happy! I have a lovely team who treat me like one of the boys and that's totally fine.
This week I started with the early shift which means waking up at 3am. It goes without saying I didn't do anything but sleep when I got back home!
That's why this Weekly Diary is so short!

I have enjoyed one particular song this week, I heard it for the first time on Friday and I can't keep it out of my head!

I also went to see "Bad Neighbours" in the movie theatre and I must say, it's a really funny movie! It didn't quite go as I expected, but I giggled so much.
Also, Zac Efron.

So yeah, a really short Weekly Diary this week, but I hope that's okay! I'll talk to you tomorrow!
Have a lovely day!

Lifestyle: how to keep track of your spending ♥

In a little while I'm going to be moving out of my parents house, which is very exciting but also very scary.
Of course now I have to take care of my business. One of the things that I'm going to have to deal with is money and how to keep track of what I'm spending.
I used to save all my money and just allow myself to spend €10/week, but that was a while ago and I'm pretty sure that's not how things work in "the real world".

I thought there might be other people out there who are struggling with this or who are trying to find a way to keep track and don't spend too much, so I decided I'd put it on the blog.

I figured out a way to keep track, it's really simple.
I made an example on paper, but if you want to be friendly to the environment (or if you just prefer working on a computer), you can go ahead and make this in Excel as well!

So what I do is I make a list of the money that I earn and the money that I spend. You can do this on a weekly or a monthly basis, depending on how you like it.
Each week or month, you can review the list. I always review the money that goes out and if I feel like I spent too much, I check where it went (I do like to think of how much I want to spend so that I don't cross that line too much).

For example, that way I can limit the budget for snacks or luxury things like make-up (if I think too much money is spent on that).
I do sometimes allow myself to get a little treat, but I think everyone needs that to stay motivated :) !

I hope these tips helped you!

Thanks for reading and have a good day!

Favourite summerproof make-up

Summer; it is the most beautiful time of the year, the birds are tjirping, the sun is shining and walking through the park is a lot less messy.

But summer can also be incredibly hot, we've had a taste of that here in Belgium. On days when it's +30°C outside, it's no fun to wear a lot of make-up, so today I'm going to show you my favourite summerproof, "easy" products.

I love my Catrice BB cream. It's cheap, but it works good and when I'm at work, people always ask me what products I use on my face. Well, this is the product. I can't find it in my store however. I think they're out of the assortment (god I hope not) and I sure hope I'll find a replacement as good as this one. Loved it! If you can still find it in your store, get it. No, just get them all!

Some days I've felt like BB cream is even too much to put on, it'll sweat right off anyway. So I've been using my MAC pro longwear concealer to conceal spots or dark circles and that's it. I just use a little bit of blush at times and my "Adored" highlighter by MAC.

I'm never in the mood for complicated eye make-up, layers,... , so most of the time I go for the easiest look.
I use this Infaillable eyeshadow in "Forever Pink", or one of my Color Tattoos by Maybelline!

Sometimes I use products that take a little more work. For example this eyeshadow duo. These colours are "Amber lights" and "Coppering" by MAC. I mix them and put them on my eyelid. Next I put on some eyeliner.

Another gorgeous product (that does take a little bit more work), is MAC's "Rose" pigment.

What do you wear on hot, sweaty days? Or do you just go make-up free?

Back to school: planning

Hello everyone!
Here I am with the first "Back to school" post! Today I want to tell you about the importance of planning. I never planned anything when I was younger, which resulted in chaos.

It's been a year or probably two years since I started making to do lists and it has been a lifesaver for me. I'm a little messy and I tend to forget things sometimes, so having a to do list is always good.

To do lists are good because you can see in the blink of an eye what you have to do that day, which always helped for me. I always tried to finish my work so that I could spend the rest of the night blogging or reading.

This is how I make my to do lists. When I start my to do lists, I normally write down all my activities for the whole week, but I do leave some space, in case I make more plans.

I use a couple of colours; orange for school things (f.ex. essay)
I use red for things that I need to do for my blog, and I use green to write down the hours if I have to go to work.

I also use a normal blue or black pen to write down things that I can do ahead. For example if I want to blog three days ahead, I put down three titles of blog posts that I need to work on.

The things written in blue or black are optional. If I don't have time for those things that day, I'll just do it another day. But you know what day say: never leave to tomorrow what you can do today!

I like to plan, I seem to have much more controle over my life and I'm going to keep doing it.
I'd recommend it to those of you that don't plan, try it, it will change your life (and your mood, when you see your to do list for today is empty)!

Thanks for reading!

EOTD: mysterious weather!

Hello everyone!
Last week the weather was a little mysterious so I decided I'd make a look based upon the weather. I didn't want to make it too dark because I had to go to work, but I think it looked pretty good.

It was quite early when I did this make-up so I didn't use any eyeshadow on my eyelid. I just applied liquid eyeliner and mascara (both by Essence, as always), and after that I went in with dark blue eyeliner kohl by Essence called "Nightfever". On my lashline, I used "Deep Truth" by MAC. It's a really beautiful royal/navy blue, I absolutely love it!
I blended it out and voilà.

It's a rather simple look, but I think it's really beautiful and it absolutely suited with the weather that day!

Book haul!

Hi!
Here I am again with another book haul! Last week I bought two really interesting books!

The first book that I bought is "Mr. Mercedes", by Stephen King. It looks like an amazing book to me, I've always liked Stephen King's books! As always it's full of scary things, murder and mystery! I'll let you know what I think about it!

The next book I bought is a book about mythology. In this book, all the mythology from different areas and times is written down. I think mythology is very interesting and I also think it's going to come in handy next year when I'm studying History.

Introducing: Back to school series 2014!

Hi!
I have some exciting news! I'm back with a "back to school" series! I decided it would be fun to do one again this year - I did one last year, but this year I'm not going to high school anymore, I'm going to college!

I thought this might be the perfect time to share some tips, and discover what the future holds. This is the first year that I go to college, so maybe next year I'll do another series to tell you about what I have learned the first year. Or I might just write a few lifestyle posts during the year!

Of course, a lot of the things that I'll be talking to you about in this series, will also be helpfull to people who are still going to high school.
If you have any tips to share, please do so in the comments!

See you soon!

Weekly Diary

Hello everyone!
It's Sunday, which means it's Weekly Diary time!
I don't have a lot of pictures this week, since I've been at work most of the time! What can I say, I have things to pay ;), like all of us.

This week, I didn't only work, I also spent a lot of time in the hospital! I actually had to go and get a consult to get my wisdom teeth removed, but because of a misunderstanding, I didn't get my consult and now I don't know when I can have surgery.
Luckily, I brought my book called "Wreck this journal" and had some fun with dad.

That evening, I was in luck! I got back just in time from the hospital and my friends invited me to go watch the shooting of a show that comes out around October here in Belgium. It was so much fun, I really enjoyed myself. I saw Astrid Bryan (Belgian girl who lives in America, did a TV show and now has her own reality show) and Belgian writer Herman Brusselmans. Fun!

Later we also went to this lovely restaurant in Ghent that used to be a factory. We ate on the top floor. I wish I got a picture, it was so so beautiful there. Absolutely stunning, and good service ;) ! I didn't expect to have so much fun after my gone wrong dentist appointment!

Even though this week has been a little busy, I still made time for my pets. My cat obviously doesn't know how to play with toys!

Last night I heard about some Turkish guy telling women they shouldn't laugh in public. Well uhm, I join the protest on Instagram! Never EVER stop smiling!

And I also did a make-up job... Something completely different than I'm used to, but it looked good and felt good so... The pictures will be online as soon as I get them!

Thanks for reading! Have a good day!
