Bookreview: The iron king by Julie Kawaga

Hello everyone! Today I have a new bookreview for you! This last week, I have been obsessed with the Iron King by Julie Kagawa. This is the first book in "The Iron Fey" series. I got all four books at thesame time. They looked quite beautiful and interesting, and the reviews also gave me good hopes.
Now that I've read the first book, I know it's good and I think I will enjoy the other books as well.

First of all.... How beautiful is the cover? Lots of great details, beautiful colours, it just looks so magical and inspiring! I know you should never judge a book by it's cover, but doesn't a beautiful cover help?

"Meghan Chase has a secret destiny; one she could never have imagined.

Something has always felt slightly off in Meghan's life, ever since her father disappeared before her eyes when she was six. She has never quite fit in at school or at home.

When a dark stranger begins watching her from afar, and her prankster best friend becomes strangely protective of her, Meghan senses that everything she's known is about to change.

But she could never have guessed the truth - that she is the daughter of a mythical faery king and is a pawn in a deadly war. Now Meghan will learn just how far she'll go to save someone she cares about, to stop a mysterious evil, no faery creature dare face; and to find love with a young prince who might rather see her dead than let her touch his icy heart."

Oh my god you guys. I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed this first book. There are no words. Suprise after surprise you get to know the world Meghan now lives in. The book is easy to read but it's not too childish. It's easy to understand and feel for all the characters as well.
As for the prince with the icy heart... Well, you'll just have to find out how you feel about him on your own!

I absolutely loved this book, I think Julie did a really great job!
Thanks for reading!

I'm going to be a teacher!

Hello everyone!

I have a really exciting post! I have been doubting about what I want to study this year but after taking a look at college this weekend and just going to many meetings about studying, I decided I want to be a teacher!

Why? A couple of my teachers had a really big influence on me, especially the ones who teacher history, they could always tell stories so well and I just counted down the days to my history lesson.

I was first doubting between that and journalistics, but I think teaching will suit me better. I want to influence people and share my knowledge.
I'm very excited, I'll have 6 hours of English each week and also History will be 6 hours each week. It will for sure take a bit of work but I'm convinced I can do it!

What would you like to be if you grow up? Did you get your dream job?

Being body confident ♥

 -

Hello everyone. Today I wanted to do a short little post about body confidence. I just wanted to go ahead and talk to you about it more openly than I normally would because I feel this is becoming a huge issue in my life.

Since becoming a teenager, I have always been a bit more chubby.
First of all, because I love food too much but also because (maybe) I don't exercise enough. I'm quite happy with the way I look, I'm blessed with a butt and a pair of beautiful breasts (if I do say so myself), but also some curves that I'd love to hide a little bit more.

I know I should try to get fit again but if you go to school 5 days a week, run more than one blog and work 3 days a week, you'll know how exhausting it can be at times. Not that I'm looking for an excuse.

These last few weeks I have noticed that a lot of people are again commenting on my weight. Last week I was getting cookies for someone and people thought it was for me. So they pointed out that I really didn't need those extra pounds. Uh, hello, as if it wasn't already clear.

I just wanted to address this because... Well, why?  Everyone is beautiful and eventhough that sounds like a huge cliché, it is the way it is. I admit I could probably lose some weight but I don't want to and I don't want to be reminded of me being chubby everytime I get something to eat.

I'm blessed with a beautiful body, born into a lovely family that provides me of everything I need. Why would I want to starve myself? To look better for the "society"? Because I'll become old and lonely one day if I don't start my diet now?

I'm not afraid to say I love my body. I love myself. I have days where I look in the mirror and I don't feel 100% perfect, but I have many days where I look in the mirror and I can look myself in the eye when I tell myself I'm beautiful the way I am.

Why shouldn't you? Just think of all the companies that would go out of business if women woke up one day and decided to like their body. I'm not perfect, nobody is, but I'm learning to accept myself and embrace my imperfections.
It's taken me 17 years to convince myself I'm good the way I am, I haven't got another 17 years to convince somebody else.

Once you accept your flaws, nobody can use them against you. Don't let them ruin you as they have ruined me in the past. Words are just words and people who don't know how hard it can be are always the first to judge and the first to claim they can do it better.
Don't waiste you energy.

Have a beautiful day. Love yourself. God bless.

A sneak peek inside my beauty closet: mono eyeshadows

Hello everyone!

I'm back with a part of my "Sneak peek inside my beauty closet". This time I will be showing you my mono eyeshadows. I like palettes more, but every once in a while I find some beautiful colours that aren't in palettes. That's why I have a little mono collection as well!

The first eyeshadows are by Yves Rocher. I actually wasn't very impressed with them when I just got them but I do still use them. I just use a base and build up the colour. The colours are beau-ti-ful, too bad the pigment isn't amazing.

These Catrice eyeshadows are the total opposite. First of all, they are so beautiful but they are also insanely pigmented! And they're cheaper! This is a budget topper!

I do have more eyeshadows by Catrice. Some are better pigmented than others but I can't complain! They are never too expensive and most of the time I end up satisfied instead of disappointed.

Next, I have two eyeshadows by MAC. When I just got them, I didn't want to use them because I was scared of running out of these two beautiful eyeshadows. However lately, I've been using them a lot! Great pigment, nice texture, but I guess that's what you pay for.

And then I have a couple of Essence eyeshadows! What I said about Catrice eyeshadows, counts for Essence eyeshadows as well. Some are really pigmented, some are not so pigmented.
I swatch most of them before buying them. I also got a couple from a friend.

That's it! My whole mono eyeshadow stash!

Make-upchallenge #4: Taupe

Hello!
I'm back with another make-upchallenge update! This look is very simple and easy. I used my Color Tattoo by Maybelline as eyeliner just to see how it would go.
It wasn't bad but from a distance you couldn't really see the colour so I went over it with a taupe/grey eyeshadow.

This is the result! I decided not to do anything with it (I didn't want to ruin it!) and just applied mascara as the finishing touch!

Thank you for reading!

Weekly Diary

Hello everyone! Another Sunday rolled around and I'm here again to tell you about my week.
Next week is going to be so exciting. I am celebrating the last 100 days in high school and there's going to be a show and a big party. Sigh. I'm looking forward to it!

This week has been rather calm, I've been reading a lot and school hasn't been as busy. We also have one week off after next week!

I went ice skating. I haven't done that in a long time but I love the feeling of being back on ice. Unfortunately there was a huge amount of people which meant little kids falling in front of you all the time or skating right into you because they couldn't stop.
Well, what can you do about it? I do hope to go back soon!

I also went to a meeting in school where we could ask information about our studies next year. A lot of former high school students came to talk about their educations and I got so much information. I was doubting between psychology, journalistics or being a history and English teacher.
The education that I most likely will be going for is English and history to become a teacher in the first and second year of high school.

I also went to visit a college and a campus this weekend, which allowed me to ask a lot of information and get to know everything a little bit. Really nice! I am now more than even convinced I will go for history and English.
I'm going to have those two main subjects for 6 hours a week! Love it!

I have a couple of inspiring pictures on my computer and I thought this week I would share this picture. Happy Sunday!

EOTD: Blue eyes

Hi everyone! I have another eye of the day look for you. This look is a great look for blue eyed girls because the whole look is made with gold and copper. It might not seem very extreme or anything but the look is always brighter in real life.

I used my Essence pigment in "Smell the caramel" on my lid and under my eye, and then I grabbed a brown eyeshadow with a red undertone from my ELF 144 neutral eyeshadow palette. I first applied this very very softly in the crease and blended it out. After that, I applied thesame colour in the outer corner, I just made it a little darker.
I used a white/very pale pink highlighter on my browbone.

Next I put on my eyeliner and mascara, and done! This is the result!

I love this look! I haven't used the Essence pigment yet even though I've had it for a long time because I thought it would be too much, but it actually looks really good! I'm happy with it!

Thank you for reading and supporting me. You mean a lot to me (I don't think I say it enough). Have a lovely Saturday!

Things I'm looking forward to!

Hello everyone!
Today I want to write about things I'm looking forward to. A lot of times I think the community is focused on having things and not so much on enjoying the moment or looking forward to experiences instead of money or materialistic things.
That's why I decided to change it! Time for the things I'm looking out for!

First of all I'm looking out to 100 days, which is an event at school where the seniors celebrate the start of the last 100 days of school. They put together shows for everyone to enjoy and it's just a lot of fun. This year, I'm one of the seniors and I enjoy it so much! My 100 days is just a week away and I couldn't be more excited! At the end of the day we also go out to eat with all the students. It's amazing.

I'm also going to Prague this year with school. For five days I'll learn about the World War and a lot of interesting things!

I'm looking forward to a little better weather. Then I can go ahead and doll myself up again. I love waking up in the morning and seeing the sun through my window. Right now, the only thing I see as I look through my window is rain, but I hope it'll soon change.

I'm also looking forward to filming more tutorials because they do make me happy. I've been doing other people's make-up a lot recently and I love it! I might try to get into MAC, I'm not sure if I'll be accepted though. It would be a very fun job! First I want to learn as much as I can.

I'm also looking forward to photographing more. The pictures below were all taken by me and I just love to photograph beautiful things. Some days in the summer, if I don't have to work, I walk around with my camera looking for beautiful things just so I could photograph them. I am in the middle of saving money for a new camera so in the future I might take more and better pictures. I don't know which camera I would get though.

What gets you excited? What makes you happy?

A sneak peek inside my beauty closet: lipbalms

Hello everyone!

Today I have another "Sneak peek inside my beauty closet". This time I'm going to show you my lipbalm stash.
I have a couple of tubes with lipbalm that I don't use too often. They are very sticky and so I only use them at home or before I'm going to bed. They're by a brand called MAX. The little tin jar on the right side is by thesame brand. The texture is a lot better and I use it very often.

Next, I have a couple of Yves Rocher products. I don't really like Yves Rocher, except for their lipbalms. I own two jars: one is strawberry scented and one is raspberry scented. I also own a vanilla lipbalm. I used to own a coconut one as well but I have finished that one!

Next I have two Labello lipbalms. When I was a kid, I used these all the time. There really is something special about them. I love the texture and the scent.
I actually already had enough lipbalms but I got these on a day that I forgot to take my lipbalm with me. My lips were dry, bleeding and hurting, so I decided to go to the store during my lunchbreak and get these.
One for home, one for my purse.

This Fanta red fruit lipsmacker is another one of my lipbalms that I use quite often. It's not as good as the Labello, but it's close. And it tastes really good!

My favourite lipbalm is this one by Kiehl's. It's almost empty!

I also own this Nivea lipbalm with SPF 15 and argan oil. I didn't get to test the product in the store because it was wrapped in plastic so when I got home it turned out the colour is a little too dark for me. So most of the time I use it at home or when I'm more tan!

I also own this smooth vanilla lipbalm/lipshine by H&M as well. I use it in summer most of the time because it looks like a lipgloss a little bit. Although it's a bit sticky, but most of H&M's lipglosses (or any lipglosses for that matter) are sticky.

What lipbalm would you recommend?
