Photo tutorial: "Tropical Orange"

Hi guys! Recently I showed you the first makeup look in my makeup challenge series. I have also made a photo tutorial for you, in case you wanted to try it out yourself.
Let's go!

The first thing I did was use Maybelline's Color Tattoo on my lid as a base. This colour is called "Permanent taupe". Darker brown colours would work fine as well.

Next I grabbed my MAC eyeshadow in "Honey Lust", a shimmery gold colour. I used a sponge applicator for this because I thought it would be easier to apply. If you don't have a sponge applicator, you can use a brush and wet it a little or spray a little bit of MAC's Fix+ on it.

I applied it right over the taupe base in patting motions.

Next I grabbed my MAC "Texture" eyeshadow. With a thin crease brush I applied this above my crease, slightly blending it out. I didn't blend too much though, I want the colour to peak through.

Next I went in with another colour by MAC called "Bronze". I applied this in the crease using a crease/blending brush. I blended it out into the orange colour.

That's where my Catrice palette in "Before or after eight" comes in. I used this darker colour on the right for my outer V. I used the crease/blending brush that I used for "Bronze" as well. I blended it out to make sure there were no dark, harsh lines.

Time for highlighter! I'm using my go to highlight colour by NYC called "Basic Instinct".

Time to blend a little more if needed, curl lashes and apply mascara! Here's the finished look!

Thanks for watching! Let me know if you liked it!

Have a great day!

Januari favourites

The first month of 2014 is over already. Can you believe it? Time goes so fast!
January has been a month full of hard work and beauty favourites. The hard work is not something I like to write about, beauty favourites are. Take a peek?

Ever since I got this palette back in October, I believe, I've been using -and loving- it. I can only use a palette for months in a row if I really really like it. When it comes to my Nude 'Tude palette by the balm, there isn't one thing I don't like. I know you're probably getting bored of hearing me say this but it's the truth.

I have also "discovered" something new. I've seen a picture on Tumblr of a girl with heart shaped lips. I saw it a long time ago, it must have been a year ago already (or longer maybe).
Just now I decided to try it. And I fell in love with it. I can't wait for spring and summer to come back, I'm pretty sure this will be my signature look.

My favourite lipstick of the month, the one I use to create the heart shaped lips, is "Russian Red" by MAC.

Back in August I went to the MAC store for the very first time. I got a couple of makeup items that I loved. However, I didn't use them often because I didn't want to hit pan. I wanted the eyeshadow product to last.
Seeing it just sit on my vanity over the last few months was a bit sad, I mean, when you spend so much money on a product, you would want to use it, right? So I did. I found a video online (totally coincidential) where a girl used this colour and I recreated it rightaway. Eversince, this has been one of my go to beauty looks. The name of this eyeshadow is "Texture", by the way!

Another product that I have been loving this month is my Color Tattoo by Maybelline. This one is called "Permanent Taupe". I'm guessing I don't need to explain why I love this!

H&M has totally surprised me with this eyeshadow trio! Beautiful colours for everyday and so appropriate for work or school. It's also tiny, which means you can just throw it in your purse and touch up your makeup later. Oh,and it's so cheap!

Last but not least I have my products by The Body Shop. Lipbalm, shower gel and body butter.
All of them have helped me take care of my body in this cold weather and ah.... I can't explain how attached I have gotten!

Which items have you been loving lately?

Facecharts ♥

Last week I was a little bored. I was looking up videos online when I came across a face chart.
I have seen many many face charts but I have never really made one myself. Well, up until that point. Silly really, because I want to be a makeup artist, so why didn't I think of that before (or why did I keep forgetting about it?!)
I printed a couple of face charts that I found on the internet and started applying makeup...

Here is the end result! One more wearable look on the left, and a darker look on the right. I do realise that I go for gold/orange/brown colours too much. I think that's because I like to use those colours the most. I will pay attention to using other colours.

Would you like to see more face charts?

Makeup look challenge update #1: orange

Hello everyone! Last week I told you I wanted to challenge myself to wear more coloured looks.
Today I have my very first update. I started out with a look that contains orange. I didn't make it too bright though, that way it is still wearable for everyday. It's also school and work appropriate.

While I was making this look, I took some pictures. I'm going to make it into a photo tutorial. I think it will be online this week or next week.

Products used:

Weekly Diary

Hello everyone!
How have you been this last week? I'm sorry I'm a little (ahum, a lot) late. I've been working my you know what off this weekend and have barely been home, aside from the time I was sleeping.

Today I have a Weekly Diary, but it's a very short one. I've been working for school and I just finished my internship so there hasn't really been much time for fun.

Haribo has really lovely candy. I was eating a litte bit of candy behind my desk when I remembered a funny story I'd read online: Some of Haribo's candy is black and now they won't be selling black "men" (candy) anymore because it's seen as a racist thing. I honestly think it's a bit ridiculous. It's like drinking milk is something racist. Come on.

For the last day at my internship I had to make a quiz. Of course I wanted pictures so I looked for cute cat pictures for quite a while. I have to say that in my search for lovely pictures, I found a lot of amazing things. There are some talented people out there!

I've also downloaded a couple of face charts to practice my makeup looks on! Since I had nothing to do on Friday evening, I decided I would go ahead and give it a shot. You can never start too early, can you?

I'm going back to school. It's going to be a little weird, I think, now I've been an intern for two weeks. I learned a lot at my internship. I also learned that it's hard for me to sit behind a computer eight hours a day.

How was your weekend? Happy Monday!

OOTD: Internship

Hello everyone! These last two weeks I've been an intern. It's been especially interesting. Today I wanted to show you one of the outfits I wore. I was asked not to go overboard or not to wear pin-up or vintage clothes so I had to find another solution. Here's what I came up with!

The outfit is pretty basic. I wore black pants with All Stars and a striped sweater by H&M. To make it look a little bit more "interesting" or "put together", I threw on a blazer in a gorgeous deep red colour and a statement necklace, also by H&M. My makeup has been quite basic. A litte bit of eyeliner or mascara. If I had more time, I put on a little bit of eyeshadow. There were also days where I didn't wear any makeup.
My hair has been in a ponytail most of the time. That's good because my hair is a bit wavy and some days it looked especially nice.

Makeup inspirations! ♥

We all need to be inspired every once in a while, don't we? I do!
I've been on Tumblr for quite a while now, but most of the time I looked for pin-up or Marilyn Monroe pictures. Until I realised there is a beauty community on there too!
I found the most amazing, stunning, surprising pictures ever and I'm so glad I did. Because they inspire me. That's why I want to share them with all of you today!
Ready? Set. Go!

I don't who made these first three looks (and pictures) but I always recognize her eyes and I always love those pictures the most. She is so proessional (and beautiful, as far as I can tell).

I don't know any of the other girls that made these looks, unfortunately. If you do, please let me know!

Thanks for reading! I hope you were inspired! Have a lovely day!

Makeup look challenge ♥

Hello everyone! Ever since using more colour this summer (and getting more coloured palettes), I decided that I wanted to wear brighter colours more often. However, now that it's January, I nearly wear brown colours everyday and I wanted to change that. So I challenged myself and I thought it would be really fun to make this a kind of series for the blog.

I challenged myself to pick a colour each week that I should create one or more looks with. One week I'll choose blue for example and so I'll have to find a way to incorporate blue into my makeup. I myself am really excited for this and I hope I'll be able to do it every week, even on busy weeks.

Just to show you what I mean, I uploaded a couple of pictures of brighter looks that I have created last year. It's also inspiring at thesame time. Of course I'll try not to make thesame looks as showed below!
