EOTD: Frost

Every once in a while I get really inspired. It can be by nature, like when I see a sunset I like to create a similar look using yellow and orange eyeshadows.
I can get inspired by buildings, or by things I see on instagram.
I've been wanting to do a very bright, colourful look for a long time now. I have a gorgeous blue liquid eyeliner in my drawer that I can't use on a daily basis so I decided to do a look with this one. I used to be scared of pink and then I started doing a lot of pink looks. It's been ages since I've done anything with any blue eyeshadow, so I thought this would be a nice change for once.

The blue eyeshadow that I used is from a new Zoeva palette that I'm testing. I'm also using the blue eyeshadow from my Fenty Beauty Galaxy palette.
Probably my favourite product in this whole look is the MAC pigment that I used on my eyelid. It's called "Blue Brown" and it's a taupe with some blue sparkles in it.
So pretty - and you can make it wearable!

Would you like to see more of these fun looks?

EOTD: Lovey Dovey

Goodmorning! How have you been? Last week I didn't feel like doing a special look for Valentine's Day. I like the fact that we celebrate love on Valentine's Day, but I won't necessarily wear pink or purple on my eyes that day.

This weekend however, I did decide to go for pink. This pink shade is my favourite shade from the Hudabeauty Rosé palette - which I have been testing this last week and which I will be reviewing in one of my next posts.

As you can see this palette holds such pretty colours! I used "Shy" in my crease and worked the brightest pink, called "Flamingo" in my crease as well. I used the hot pink "Maneater" and "Bossy" in my outer crease corner and finished the whole look with "Fling" - a hot pink shimmery eyeshadow. Later on, I put some of the "Rose" gold in the middle of my eyelid for a halo effect. You can see the chunks. I like it!

I used gel eyeliner on my lower waterline and some mascara to complete this look!

I hope you enjoyed this post! Let me know what you think!
Have a good day!

Christmas make-up look #2

Happy Thursday! I can't believe we're going to celebrate Christmas in a couple of days already! I have been looking forward to Christmas for a few weeks now and one of the things I enjoy most is picking out outfits and looks.

This look is quite different than the one I uploaded on Sunday.
It's a bit darker, but it's all matt. Dark browns and blacks on the lid, orange and red eyeshadows in the crease.

I think it looks different, yet very sophisticated.

The palette that I used to make this look is the Kat Von D Sinner & Saint palette. This palette holds so many colours and has so many options for looks, it's crazy!
I still have a review with swatches of this palette coming up, so if you'd like to see what the palette is like, you can wait for that review.

I will be doing tons of looks with this palette - I think I'll challenge myself to do five completely different looks using this one palette. What do you think?

After finishing my look with the Kat Von D palette, I decided to apply some copper pigment by MAC in the inner corner for that extra touch!

If you'd like, you can also wear false lashes for this look. I'm really not good at applying them (on myself) but I think for this look, it would be extra beautiful!

I hope this inspired you a little! Thanks for reading!

It does not matter how slow you go as long as you do not stop

Yes, I just quoted the most known Tumblr quote ever in my title and I'm not even sorry.
Recently, I've seen tons of self taught make-up artists, share these pictures of how their make-up was years ago and how it is now.
Feeling inspired, I came online and found some pictures from three years ago. I thought it'd be fun how much I - and this blog - have changed!

Sometimes I feel like I'm not achieving everything I want fast enough and like today's title says, it really doesn't matter how slow you go,
as long as you don't stop.
Because stopping is going backwards. I hope you do take the time to reflect on yourself every once in a while - and if you're a beauty lover like me and you reflect on your make-up skills, I hope it will boost your confidence!

Have a lovely day! I hope to see you soon!

Catrice All Round Mascara review!

Good morning everyone! How are you doing?
I'm doing quite good these days, kicking it back old school and with not too much make-up. These last weeks I have skipped make-up quite often and I must admit, I don't have any problems with it anymore. It's so refreshing to go make-up free.
Of course, I'm a beauty lover at heart and I won't try to convince you a little mascara can't do little miracles. In fact, if there was one thing I could use for the rest of my life, it'd probably be mascara.

A little really can go a long way. I do let my skin breathe more often than I did before, but a bit of mascara will always give your look a boost.
Today I'm trying Catrice's All Round black mascara - one of the cheapest ones they have, but mascara doesn't have to be expensive. Drugstore mascaras, I find, are just as good as high end mascaras.

This mascara comes in a red tube. It's nice to have a bit of colour in my collection, but other than that the packaging is quite "normal".

The brush isn't very exciting. It's got a small tip, which is good for inner and outer corners of the eyes. Other than that, it's pretty basic. I'm actually happy to see a mascara brush that doesn't look scary for once!

I wouldn't say I'm very surprised with the volume this mascara gives me. Length however, I can't complain about. I apply about two to three coats of mascara to get the best result.

Is it a good mascara? Yes, as a basic item, I do think so. I also think that if you're going to use three layers everytime you apply mascara, you might as well go for a little bit of a more expensive option and apply less layers each time, but that's personal. If you're a girl (or boy) that only applies one layer, by all means, go for it. I, personally, love some extra volume and will therefore look for a mascara with more volume.

However, for €2.99, I think we have to be fair and admit this is not a bad product at all.

Thanks for reading! I'll see you soon!

EOTD: When the beach meets the ocean

'Ello! I'm back with one of my favourite eyelooks of the moment.
This look is a typical pop of colour look, but rather than just black eyeliner and blue eyeliner, I also mixed my eyeshadows: something neutral on top and a pop of colour underneath.

I was inspired by the beach for this look. The colours on my eyelid represent the sand on the beach and the horizon when the sun goes down.
The blue and green eyeshadow on my waterline represent the ocean and the seaweeds.
(I've been wanting to do something with white eyeliner as well, but I haven't found a nice white liquid eyeliner yet, so suggestions are welcome!)

I used my MAC eyeshadows in "Steamy", "Plumage", "Espresso" and "Satin Taupe" and The Balm Bon Voyage palette to create this look .

Let me know what you think!
Have a nice day!

EOTD: Glitter cut crease ♥

Goodmorning everyone!
Just a few days ago, I got my newest H&M navy blue liquid eyeliner. I've tried out some looks already, and this one is my favourite by far!
It's quite dramatic and perhaps not suited for everyday, but it's fun. Check it out!

H&M "De Nîmes" coloured eyeliner review!

Another day, another eyeliner added to my make-up collection - or so it seems!
As you might have noticed, I've been getting into glitter and coloured eyeliners recently. I've been experimenting with eyeliner ever since I've started blogging, well over four years ago now!

My latest eyeliner buy was a bit of an impulse; I didn't need more eyeliners, but the H&M store in Bruges has been expanding, adding more make-up to their collection and the eyeliners were on sale, so I got one.

The packaging of this eyeliner is so cute! You can see the colour of the eyeliner through the tube. The letters on the eyeliner are gold, which is beautiful. Everything else is pretty basic.

The eyeliner that I got is called "De Nîmes", it's a gorgeous blue colour with a bit of glitter in it. Oh, and I also have an "eye of the day" coming up using this eyeliner, so make sure you check that out as well.

The tip of this eyeliner brush is soft and flexible. It's so easy to draw a line across your lashline.

And would you look at the colour of this eyeliner. My god, it is gorgeous - it reminds me of what the sky looks like at midnight!
The eyeliner contains a bit of sparkle. I wouldn't say glitter because there aren't any big chunks in it, it's very subtile. It's almost difficult to explain.

It has a nice texture and applies smoothly. I don't have any complaints about pigmentation either; one layer does the job just fine, this eyeliner isn't watery or anything.

To be honest with you, I never expected to find such a great eyeliner at H&M.

Finding this eyeliner was a coincidence (I wouldn't have seen it if it didn't have a huge red sticker or if it wasn't placed near the check out- very smart marketing by the way) but I'm glad I did notice it.
If you feel like trying something different, I'd recommend giving this eyeliner a shot.

I'm will be going back to see if they have any other exciting colours!
I paid €3 for this eyeliner.

EOTD: Neon

Goodmorning lovelies!
Remember last week when I showed you my brand new coloured eyeliners by Miss Sporty? Today's look is a very bright look. I used my neon yellow eyeliner for this one.
I was quite excited to try this one out and man, I can't get over how cute it is! I will say that it's not for everyone. A couple of my friends love it, others don't really like it at all. It's all a matter of personal taste, but being the beauty/make-up lover that I am, I just had to try it. I'm always up for something new!

I think this is such a nice make-up look for bright, sunny days! Everytime I look down, it's like a little surprise: "Boom, I have yellow eyeliner!". I will have another make-up look up using the pastel blue eyeliner as well.

I kept my eyeshadow pretty neutral so it wouldn't take away from the colour pop this eyeliner provides. I have listed all the make-up products below. You can click the links to my reviews if you'd like to read more about these products.

Products used:
- The Balm "Balm Voyage" palette:
"B3" in the crease, "B4 in the outer corner, "A3" on the lid
- MAC "Satin Taupe"
- Essence liquid eyeliner
- Miss Sporty eyeliner in "004 Neon Yellow"

EOTD: Keep your eyes on the prize!

If you follow me on Instagram, you might have seen my mini tutorial on a "colour pop" look.
This look is a look that I wear every once in a while. Sometimes I switch it up, but the idea behind it is always thesame: neutral on top, colourful on the bottom.

I used my MAC "Bronze" and "Espresso" for the crease. I used my Color Tattoo by Maybelline as a base for the lid and then I applied the "Melon" pigment by MAC on top of it.
After that, I used my Essence "Mari-time" eyeliner and set it in place by going over it with my "Steamy" eyeshadow by MAC. I also used MAC's "Plumage" on the lower lashline.
You can click the names of these products in this post to open a new tab, which will lead you to my review on the product.

I love this look a lot. I think this is actually one of my favourite go-to looks for summer! What do you think?

Wake up, spring!

Every spring, pastel colours come back. I'm not a fan of a wide range of pastel colours, there are only two pastel colours I like: mintgreen and pastel purple.
Just a few days ago, I was in the city center window shopping, but I ended up buying a few things too! One of those things was a mintgreen eyeliner that I came across.
I've never had bright coloured eyeliner but it's trending so I wanted to give it a shot.

The packaging of this product is so adorable. It looks like a mintgreen pen. The pen says "Wake up, spring!" in curly letters. This is the title of this collection. Ah, it makes me feel so happy inside!

The felt tip was something that made me doubt a little. Up until now, I've haven't had a good felt tip  experience when it comes to eyeliners. However, the swatch looks decent.

The look that I was going for was quite simple; a normal, black line and above it, the mintgreen line. I decided to do the mintgreen line before adding the black, because it would be easier.

Even though the colour payoff was okay on my wrist, it didn't show up that well on my eyes. I had to go over it a couple of times, but then the product didn't look like it was distributed evenly. The middle was less intense than the outer parts, if that makes sense.

I wish the colour would show up more on my skin. I feel like you have to go over it a bunch of times and still, you barely see any result.
I get that this is a pastel eyeliner, but still, it did disappoint me a little.

The next day I re-applied this eyeliner with the difference that I put the pen vertically in a cup with my other pens all night overnight, I thought maybe the product would come down more and it would be easier to use the felt tip. No luck.

I absolutely love the idea of pastel eyeliners, but so far I'm still not satisfied with the eyeliner Essence came up with.
I will be trying some other brands soon!

Thanks for reading, have a nice day!

Spring make-up trends :)

Goodmorning all of you!
How have you been doing? I have been so busy working on a bunch of different things (most importantly: my teaching and guiding my students in their learning proces!), which you might have noticed from my absence.
I'm not going to say it's never going to happen again, because honestly, I don't know. The days have just been flying by and I feel like sometimes I can't keep up.

Spring is just around the corner now andere I van barely wait!
Today I'll be showing you my three favourite make-up trends for spring. I absolutely love spring; the birds, the sun, the weather that's still a bit chilly but leaves you hopeful, ah, I can't get enough!

Glitter

I don't consider glitter to be a trend, simply because I personally wear it all the time, but if you're not the kind of girl that wears glitter on a day to day basis, then no problem! But maybe you could give it a try this spring!

Below, I've linked a very glittery, but oh so gorgeous make-up tutorial for you guys. If, however, you don't like all over the lid glitter, don't worry! Below the first video, you'll find a second one. This second one is more neutral and subtle - glitter eyeliner is your friend this season!

Rosy tones
If you're not really into glitter and all that jazz, or maybe you just want to tone it down for a couple of days, you can always go for rose, pinky tones. I was never a big fan of pink shades until I got the Nude Dude make-up palette by The Balm a couple of months ago. Since then, I've also been experimenting with cranberry/burgundy shades.
Scared this eyeshadow look will make you look sick? Go for pink lips instead!

Blue eye make-up
I used to be a very huge fan of blue eyeshadows. When I just started out experimenting with make-up, I couldn't get enough of it.
I feel like now, I've come to my senses and I've started to act more natural, but I'm quite happy to see that the pop of colour will be making a comeback this spring.

Again, I've got two tutorials to inspire you!

Enjoy your first day of May!

EOTD: Spring is just around the corner!

Goodmorning everyone!
These last few days have been cold, but sunny. I say this every year, but I feel like I'm always in a much better mood when the sun is shining. I have been wearing either really dark make-up or not much make-up at all, so I went for a put together, much lighter look today.
I still smoked it ou a bitt, but I actually used cranberry/orange/peach eyeshadow colours for this look! Here's a tip for you blue eyed girls (and boys) out there: these eyeshadows will make blue eyes pop!

I used my Nude 'Tude and Nude Dude palette from The Balm for this look, as well as my MAC make-up palette.

I also recorded a tutorial for this look, but right after applying foundation I moved a tiny bit, which means that I was out of focus the whole time. I will try to record it once again this week! If you have any other requests, don't hesitate to let me know!
Here are some full face pictures!

For my brows, I used the MUA eyebrow set. I used my Essence concealer underneith my eyes and my Catrice camouflage cream on my face.
My eyeliner and mascara are also by Essence.

Have a nice day!

EOTD: A dark trip

A new year, time to try out some new things! Back in the day, when I was still a make-up rookie, I didn't like to use many products or dark products. Experimenting was not my thing at all and playing safe was more my cup of tea.

Recently I've been trying a lot of new things; different brands, different techniques, different colours, different styles,... Today's looks is a rather dark look. I didn't know where I was going with this look when I picked up my palette by "The Balm", and I just used the colours that caught my eye.

The look turned out a little darker than I expected, which is okay. I do love the colours that I used though. A little cranberry, taupe, dark brown. I didn't do a lot on Christmas, but if I had plans to go out, I would have probably worn this!

Products used:
- Balm Voyage palette by The Balm
- Essence liquid eyeliner
- Essence mascara
- MUA eyebrow set
