Essence limited edition glitter eyeliner review!

Goodmorning everyone! How are you?
We're getting so close to Christmas and I couldn't be more excited! A lot of make-up brands are coming out with special Christmas make-up editions in honour of this enormous celebration.

This week I went to the store to get some beauty supplies and like always, I was very distracted by the make-up section. Both Catrice and Essence had cute collections coming out. Today we're talking about the Little X-mas Factory, which is Essence's youngest limited edition collection.

Last year I was looking all over the place for nice coloured liquid eyeliners but I didn't find anything back then. I found a couple glitter eyeliners, but I never used them after the holidays again. This one, I might use until it's actually done being used.

Packaging wise, good job! The white and gold themed packaging has got me feeling extra Christmas-y. It doesn't only draw attention, it's also a nice break from the oldschool green or red.

Here's a swatch of what the liquid eyeliner looks like. I must admit that I'm a bit surprised because this is the first "drugstore" gold eyeliner I've found that has good pigmentation.
It doesn't only look good, it also applies like a dream and stays on all night. This eyeliner sounds like a too good to be true product, but I've got to be honest, it's just a really good product. Although that shouldn't be a surprise, I've used the regular Essence eyeliner since I was about thirtheen so I knew they were good!
I've got a make-up tutorial using this eyeliner coming up soon, you might want to keep your eyes open for that!

Thanks for reading, I hope to see you soon!

My favourite autumn inspired lipsticks!

Every autumn, I dig deep in my make-up collection to find darker shades of lipsticks. I have a few all time favourites and a few lipsticks I fall back in love with every year.
Of course, I also have a couple of new lipsticks every year. Today, I'm walking you through my favourites.

- Classic reds:
The perfect red never goes out of style. I wear it all year long. For this time of year, it's perfect as well. For classic reds, I have four favourites. I am a big fan of MAC's Russian Red, as well as Rimmel's "111 Kiss of Life" and my "Blake's pure red" by L'Oréal. My last red lipstick, called "Pleasure me red" by Maybelline is one of my favourites as well!

- Nudes:
I always have a very hard time finding a nude lipstick that I really like. I got a new one recently, called "Nude Embrace" by Maybelline that I'm crazy about!
Such a pretty colour! I have a review coming up on this one!

- Purple shades:
Last year, I had a bit of an obsession with purples when it came to lipsticks. I have three absolute favourites.
One of them is Catrice's Plum & Base. The other two are Rimmel's "107" and "18" by Bourjois (Rouge Edition).

- Dark Shades:
Essence's "Très Chic" and "08 MATT MATT MATT" are two of my favourites. The other favourite that I have, is MAC's "Dark Side".

Do you have any favourite lipsticks? If so, please let me know in the comments below!
I hope this gave you some inspiration for the holidays!

Have a good day! I'll see you soon!

A walk through the fall beauty trends!

Goodmorning all of you! How are you?
About a week ago I posted the fall trends in fashion and today I'm going to show you my three favourite trends for make-up this winter.
(All of the pictures I used are pictures that I found on Instagram or other apps/sites. None of them belong to me.)

Glow
Highlighting, strobing, whatever you prefer, as long as it makes you glow! I'm personally a big fan of highlighting. Not too much, but just that little extra "oomph".
My favourite highlighters are Catrice's highlighter and MAC's "Soft and Gentle". I compared these two to each other as well, read it here!

Gothic
In fashion, chokers come back as a "gothic" trend, but also in fashion there's a bit of a gothic vibe. Of course - dark lips. Not just daerker reds and deep purples, but also browns and even black.

Glitter
Tis the season to be jolly, and glitter is always a big part of the holiday season. You can incorporate glitter in your make-up look in a lot of ways.
The glitter cut crease trend has been really big and I'm absolutely in love with this! I found tons and tons of gorgeous pictures on Instagram. Here are a couple of them.

I hope to see you soon!

Spring make-up trends :)

Goodmorning all of you!
How have you been doing? I have been so busy working on a bunch of different things (most importantly: my teaching and guiding my students in their learning proces!), which you might have noticed from my absence.
I'm not going to say it's never going to happen again, because honestly, I don't know. The days have just been flying by and I feel like sometimes I can't keep up.

Spring is just around the corner now andere I van barely wait!
Today I'll be showing you my three favourite make-up trends for spring. I absolutely love spring; the birds, the sun, the weather that's still a bit chilly but leaves you hopeful, ah, I can't get enough!

Glitter

I don't consider glitter to be a trend, simply because I personally wear it all the time, but if you're not the kind of girl that wears glitter on a day to day basis, then no problem! But maybe you could give it a try this spring!

Below, I've linked a very glittery, but oh so gorgeous make-up tutorial for you guys. If, however, you don't like all over the lid glitter, don't worry! Below the first video, you'll find a second one. This second one is more neutral and subtle - glitter eyeliner is your friend this season!

Rosy tones
If you're not really into glitter and all that jazz, or maybe you just want to tone it down for a couple of days, you can always go for rose, pinky tones. I was never a big fan of pink shades until I got the Nude Dude make-up palette by The Balm a couple of months ago. Since then, I've also been experimenting with cranberry/burgundy shades.
Scared this eyeshadow look will make you look sick? Go for pink lips instead!

Blue eye make-up
I used to be a very huge fan of blue eyeshadows. When I just started out experimenting with make-up, I couldn't get enough of it.
I feel like now, I've come to my senses and I've started to act more natural, but I'm quite happy to see that the pop of colour will be making a comeback this spring.

Again, I've got two tutorials to inspire you!

Comparing: MAC's Dark Side vs. Essence's Très Chic

Goodmorning everyone.
How are you doing? I'm so excited about this post day! As you might have seen a couple of days ago I got a new lipstick by Essence called "Très Chic".
When I saw it in the store, I immediately fell in love. I was very surprised that Essence had a shade like this and didn't quite understand how I'd never seen it before. I mean, I love "Diva" by MAC as much as the next person, but cheaper dupes are always welcome.

Currently, I don't have my Diva lipstick anymore (I used it all up), but I do have the MAC dupe which is called "Dark Side".  I decided put these lipsticks side by side and was once again pleasantly surprised!

It's a shame the lighting is a bit off in the picture above, but you can tell the shades are very, VERY similar.

Let's start with the Essence lipstick. This one retails for €2.39, which isn't a lot.

If you want to, you can read my full in depth review on this Essence lipstick by clicking the link here. Basically I thought the colour pay off was good. The lipstick stays on for about four/five hours (without eating). I like the texture, it's quite smooth to apply. It does dry out my lips a little bit though, I can feel it getting dry throughout the day.

On to the MAC lipstick. This one is called "Dark Side" and it retails for €19.50. Quite a bit more than the previous one, but MAC is famous worldwide for good quality and so it's normal that you have a to pay a bit more. The question of today, however, is if it really is better than the one Essence can also provide us with. If you want to, you can read my in depth review on this lipstick here.

This lipstick is typically what we're used to: good pigmentation, nice texture (gets a little dry during the day), stays on for a good few hours, I mean, I really can't complain!

Just to show you how much these lipsticks look alike, both in colour and in quality, I decided to use both of them on my lips.
I used MAC "Dark side" for the bottom lip and my Essence "Très Chic" lipstick for the upper. Can you tell the difference? I can't.

Essence really blew me away with this one. I think we can say that this lipstick is (almost) an exact MAC dupe.
If you're looking for a dupe, "Très Chic" by Essence is the lipstick you need.

Have a nice day!

OOTD: Tag me!

Hello everyone! How are you doing?
January really is a month full of exams. About twice a week, we have exams, so aside from getting ready to go to school, I don't have a lot of time to do my make-up, let alone experimenting with it. That's one of the reasons I've been uploading quite a few outfit of the day pictures. Also, I have gotten some inspiration for locations recently, which is always fun!

Could I have looked worse in this picture? I don't know!
We just started shooting pictures at this beautiful location with very nice grafitti art, when a cat welcomed us. She wouldn't leave us alone and followed us around the whole time we were there. She was so cute!

Today's sweater is the very glittery "Elfie Selfie" sweater that Katy Perry designed for H&M. When I first saw it, it made me giggle so much, that's why I got it. I think Katy Perry can be a very cheesy person and I absolutely love it. Underneith, I wore a pastel yellow button down shirt by New Look.
My pants are by H&M as well.

Thanks for reading!
Let me know what you think about this outfit!

OOTD: Colour coding

Hello everyone! How are you?
This morning when I was picking out the clothes I wanted to wear today, I started thinking... If you had to describe yourself with a colour, which colour would it be and why?
I think I would pick a red colour. Even though I have red hair and I love red lipstick, red is not my favourite colour, however, I do like it.
I think red is for passion and well- there are things that I don't like doing, just like everyone - but I try to spend my days doing things I'm passionate about.

I guess it's no suprise the sweater that I picked out is red. It's a very comfortable, warm sweater, which is just what I need right now. Also, it's oversized which is great because I have gained some weight (thanks, college), but you won't be able to tell!
Everything else is quite dark. I'm wearing my new boots (no heels, phew) and a nice long coat that I got at H&M. It doesn't have any zippers or buttons, because it's a kind of wiggle coat. I like it a lot! A lot of times I let it hang open though.

I took this picture in the park of the city where I grew up. I don't live there anymore now, but I like going back.
It's always so nostalgic because I used to go play football with my dad in this park when I was younger. I think the little kiosk in between the trees really has something special, magical almost.

So... If you had to describe yourself with a colour, which one would it be?
Have a lovely day!
