Catrice "Victorian Poetry" lipstick reviews!

I may have blogged about this once or twice: I am a huge history geek. I used to like doing it in school, but it just turned out to be something I loved.

So much, that I'm now studying history in college and hoping to get my bachelor's degree somewhere next year. There are certain era's that I don't like to study, but there are a couple I want to know everything about. I have a huge fascination for Greek and Roman culture (especially the mythology interests me) and the Victorian era.

I think I addressed my passion for the Victorian era when I did my post on chokers, but many other trends of today from come that time too. Piercings for example (intimate ones, to be correct. In the Victorian era nipple piercings were wildly popular. This year, they've made a comeback!).

This being said, can you believe how excited I was when I saw that Catrice has a limited edition out now called "Victorian Poetry"?!

I checked out with both lipsticks from this limited edition in my hand and rushed home to start testing!

The roségold packaging with shiny, sophisticated detail on it is enough to make me fall in love with it.

The two colours in this limited edition are a pink lipstick called "Poetic Pink" and a darker purple one called "Berry British". Below you can see what the lipsticks look like.

Swatches!

The lipsticks have a very smooth texture and are well pigmented. They're not drying like other lipsticks can be. I'm very excited about the colours as well, I don't have any lipsticks with this specific colour. I also think that these would fit with any skincolour.
Pale? Good, they'll pop!
Coloured? Good, they'll pop!

In this picture I used both lipsticks, I used ""Poetic Pink" on upper lip and "Berry British" below! My lips are very dry by the way, that's why the darker colour looks a bit off. It doesn't have anything to do with the colour, it's just the texture of my lips right now. Can't seem to get them hydrated! Ah, winter.

Yeah, these lipsticks have got me feeling some kind of way. What do you think?

Catrice All Round Mascara review!

Good morning everyone! How are you doing?

I'm doing quite good these days, kicking it back old school and with not too much make-up. These last weeks I have skipped make-up quite often and I must admit, I don't have any problems with it anymore. It's so refreshing to go make-up free. 

Of course, I'm a beauty lover at heart and I won't try to convince you a little mascara can't do little miracles. In fact, if there was one thing I could use for the rest of my life, it'd probably be mascara.

A little really can go a long way. I do let my skin breathe more often than I did before, but a bit of mascara will always give your look a boost. 

Today I'm trying Catrice's All Round black mascara - one of the cheapest ones they have, but mascara doesn't have to be expensive. Drugstore mascaras, I find, are just as good as high end mascaras.

 This mascara comes in a red tube. It's nice to have a bit of colour in my collection, but other than that the packaging is quite "normal".

The brush isn't very exciting. It's got a small tip, which is good for inner and outer corners of the eyes. Other than that, it's pretty basic. I'm actually happy to see a mascara brush that doesn't look scary for once!



I wouldn't say I'm very surprised with the volume this mascara gives me. Length however, I can't complain about. I apply about two to three coats of mascara to get the best result.

Is it a good mascara? Yes, as a basic item, I do think so. I also think that if you're going to use three layers everytime you apply mascara, you might as well go for a little bit of a more expensive option and apply less layers each time, but that's personal. If you're a girl (or boy) that only applies one layer, by all means, go for it. I, personally, love some extra volume and will therefore look for a mascara with more volume.

However, for €2.99, I think we have to be fair and admit this is not a bad product at all.

Manicure Monday: Love affair! ♥

Hello everyone! Manicure Monday's are quite rare on this blog, but when I put them online it means I'm really crazy about a nailpolish.

This is a new duochrome by Catrice. It's called "A pink love affair". I think it's such a pretty colour! Pink, but also blue, and purple in different lighting!  How can you not love that?

The nailpolish is quite sheer so you have to apply a couple of layers. I applied three layers to get this effect. I've also noticed that you have to be extremely careful when you're painting your nails because little bubbles or texture will show up ten times as easy as in a "normal" nailpolish.

It's so worth it though!

Catrice Velvet Matt lipcream review!

Goodmorning everyone! How have you been? 

 I've been buying - and trying - new products recently. Even though I've tested a lot of them, there are only a few I want to write about on the blog. If I really dislike something, I will not talk about it online, so even though I've had quite a bit of work, you've seen nearly nothing.

One of the things I have been crazy about is liquid lipsticks. I told you before that I was a bit late to get into it, but I'm currently trying all kinds of brands. Today's review is on what Catrice calls their "Velvet Matt lip cream".

 

The packaging of the product is pretty simple, it's just a matt tube with black letters on the packaging. Nothing too exciting.

The lipcream is called "Plumming bird". I'm not too excited about the packaging, but I always love the names of Catrice's products! 

 

This is what the applicator looks like. It's made of soft hairs and it's quite flexible.

 

Here's a swatch of what the lip cream looks like. It looks glossy when you first apply it, but it dries after a couple of minutes.

I love the texture, it's very smooth and soft, but sometimes it's hard to get thesame coverage all over, some spots might seem darker and other might seem lighter. 

You will get the look you're going for, but you might have to spend a few more minutes on it. 

You could also just put this lipcream over a lipliner or a lipstick, that will make it easier to even everything out.

I'm a fan of this product, I think it's a beautiful colour (even though I must admit I thought it'd be darker, judging what the colour looked like in the packaging).

I like the texture and pigmentation as well, the only thing that could possibly ever bother you is evening out this lip cream.

I find that practice makes perfect and you get the hang of it very quickly.

Catrice "Rose your voice" liquid lipstick review!

 I've been a bit late to jump on the liquid lipstick trend. I'm just a lipstick kind of girl, and I like my lipstick to be lipsticks and my glosses to be glosses. I didn't really know what to expect, but I recently got my very first liquid lipstick. 

This one was a part of a limited edition by Catrice, so I thought, why not try it?

The packaging of this liquid lipstick is the cutest thing in the world! I'm pretty sure Catrice was inspired by the Dior liquid lipsticks.
The Dior liquid lipsticks are gorgeous, but I don't think Catrice does bad either. I think the packaging is special, cute and eyecatching. 

 

The name of this liquid lipstick is "Rose your voice"! 

And this is what the applicator looks like. I find that these kinds of applicators either work like a dream, or don't work at all, depending on the texture of your product. Below you can see a swatch of this liquid lipstick and I don't think I have to tell you I was happy when I saw it. Smooth, nice and soft texture, good colour payoff, not too thick...

Here's what my lips look like after I've put this liquid lipstick on. It's truly a "my lips but better" colour, which I like! 

I thought it'd be a matte formula, but this one feels like a lipgloss to me. It is a bit sticky, but I personally think this is something you can expect when wearing some kind of gloss.

I must admit this is the first liquid lipstick I've tried and even though it's not completely what I thought a liquid lipstick would be, I like this product a whole lot. I think it looks good, I think it feels nice and I think I'll be wearing it a whole lot more.

Limited edition Catrice eyeshadow quattro - "Zensibility" + make-up look!

Last week I was trying a new make-up look when I realized I always, always, go for warm tones.

I use gold, yellow, bronze, brown, but I rarely ever use silver or blue (unless I'm putting on kohl eyeliner, but then the eyeshadows that I use in combination are warm toned as well).

Today I'm changing up my old habits, I'm going for a cool toned make-up look. 

How do you know if something is cool toned/warm toned? Well, it's actually quite simple:

Someone told me to think of hot things when I'm looking for warm tones. She said "a fire is orange, red, yellow, and sometimes brown" and that's how you know those colours are warm tones. Then she made me think of something cold, ice, for example. 

Ice is white, blue, very light pink... 

I will never forget this example because I thought it was so great. Of course there's more than just pink and orange in the world, so that's why I inserted an easy guide (and link to more examples).

I found this limited edition Catrice palette with cool toned eyeshadows, which was a perfect opportunity: I got to try the cool toned look and I got to buy a new palette!

 

Before we get into the look, let's see if this palette's any good. The first thing that immediately struck me is the palette. Reminds you of something, beauty lovers? A brand called MAC, for example?

This palette is the exact same one as the small ones you can get a MAC. I love these palettes. They are small enough to fit in beauty cases but big enough to hold four colours (- and there are a lot of looks you can make using only four colours). They're simple but don't look cheap, I like them! 

I'm always a bit sceptical with very light eyeshadows. It happens often that dark colours have a lot of pigmentation, and light colours barely show up on the skin. 

As you can see in the picture with the swatches, these colours are very well pigmented. I was actually quite surprised. To be honest, Catrice has surprised me more than once in these last couple of months.

Here's the eye look! As you can see, the colours are very soft (which is something completely different than what I'm used to), but I like it.

My dad - who is also influenced by my blogging ;) - noticed it as well and thought this look was nice as well. 

I think this palette is such a nice palette for everyday. The texture is nice, I didn't have any fall out and the eyeshadow palette isn't very expensive either. I paid €4.99.

This palette is especially nice for you girls (and boys) who love wearing make-up but don't like to go too overboard. Or maybe if you're just getting into make-up, this palette is one for you! 

A tip I can give you is to keep the palette after you've used the eyeshadows. You can get the eyeshadow pans out and fill the palette again with individual eyeshadows from MAC.

Normally if you go to MAC, you'll pay both the palette and the eyeshadows. If you take this palette with you, you'll be one step ahead (and a few euros richer)!

Catrice blush trio

If people would ask me which products I'd love to take to a deserted island, blush would be one of the things I'd bring rightaway. I am a very pale girl and I don't blush easily, so I need some cosmetics to help me...

I recently got this Catrice blush trio. It holds three different kinds of colours and I couldn't be more excited!

The left blush is a shimmery purple-ish kind of colour. In the middle, you can find a hot pink, matte bronzer and on the right you've got a peachy, shimmery blush.

In the next picture, I mixed the middle colour and the right colour together.

I think this is a great budget product and I use it on a daily basis. The packaging is not too big, it's not too expensive, the product isn't chalky and there's a good colour payoff.

I love the idea of having more than one option to choose from as well! Especially if you're trying to build a stash or if you want to try out new things, I'd recommend this for you!

Comparing: MAC vs Catrice highlighters

I love comparing products to each other. 

Preferably cheaper and more expensive products. I did one in the past comparing MAC Russian Red lipstick and Rimmel London's lipstick to each other.

Time to compare another MAC product to one of my newest favourites: a highlighter from Catrice!

Here are the two highlighters next to each other. On the right, you see the very famous MAC highlighter called "Soft and Gentle" (that I accidentally dropped and broke, cry!) . On the left, my newest Catrice higlighter in "Light Infusion".

Both highlighters look rather simple in their packaging. Catrice has silver packaging, MAC has black packaging. Both fine.

The MAC highlighter is a little more gold, whereas the Catrice highlighter is a bit cooler.

And swatches! 

The highlighters are not exactly thesame, (Soft and Gentle is warmer) but quality wise,  I must say I'm very impressed with Catrice!

If you want a really good budget highlighter, get your hands on this Catrice highlighter as fast as you can!

Catrice high glow highlighter ♥

Goodmorning to the whole wide world out there! How are you?
I have been in quite a good mood recently. I have been working for school a lot, but I have also reaping the rewards!

I thought I deserved a little treat from myself too and went shopping. Mostly window shopping, but when I got to my drugstore, I decided to take a look inside and here's what I found: A Catrice highlighter! This is the High Glow mineral highlighting power (phew, what a long name!).

This higlighter called "Light Infusion" is a Limited Edition highlighter and I nearly died when I saw it!
It looks so beautiful! Normally I'd say that the packaging is quite minimalistic and that it's not really my style, but in this case I think it's very handy. That way you can really see the product, and that's what chatches your eye (or at least, what caught mine! ;) ).

When I swatched it, my jaw dropped. Honest to God.
Such a pretty highlighter! And the pigmentation!

As you can see, this higlighter is well pigmented, but it also has a nice structure. There are no chunks of glitter in it, which I'm extremely grateful for. I have bad skin as it is and chunks would only make it look worse.

I'm so happy to have found a budgetproof highlighter that meets my expectations when it comes to textures and everything.
I would for sure recommend it if you're looking for a cheap highlighter.

Catrice Sun Glow bronzer review!

Fall is in town and I'm desperately trying to keep my tan. After running out of bronzer this summer, I decided to try this new one by Catrice. Catrice is a brand that doesn't disappoint me very often, so I thought I'd give it a shot.

I got both "020 deep bronze" and "030 medium bronze". I actually thought "medium bronze" would be the lightest colour, but that's not the case. It's the other way around.

Let's start with packaging. The bronzer looks pretty simple, it's packed in shiny grey plastic, exept the top is see through.

I'm quite happy with this bronzer. The pigment is good and "020 deep bronze" is a good match for my skin. When I contour, it still look natural instead of orange and fake. I like! 

I used "020 deep bronze" in the pictures below. I'm pretty satisfied with the way it looks on my skin.

Catrice ultimate stay lipstick

As you may have noticed in the past, I am absolutely crazy about lipsticks.

Last week, I got one by Catrice. This is the ultimate stay lipstick. I have never had one like this before so I was very excited to try it.

 

 

The packaging of this lipstick is pretty simple. It's a matte black tube and aside from the brand name, there's not much to see on the tube.

The lipstick is a dark, burgundy colour. It's so beautiful and fall appropriate. This makes me want fall season to get here, to be quite honest with you! 

The colour is called "Plum & Base".

This swatch is so beautiful! The colour is pigmented really well. Applying is a pleasure because the lipstick is so creamy. 

I think this lipstick is a score! I don't have many Catrice lipsticks but since this one didn't let me down, I might get more!
