Essence lash princess mascara review

Hello everyone! I'm back today with a mascara post. It's been a while since I've done one of these.

I rarely ever get a high end mascara, simply because drugstore mascara's are just as nice. Recently, my friend recommended this Essence lash princess mascara to me.

Will it make me feel like a princess? Time to test! 

Let's talk packaging! 

I think this packaging looks quite beautiful. It's a black tube with pastel pink/salmon coloured detailing.

The cap of this mascara looks like what the back of a princesses dress would look like. I think this was a lovely idea, it looks like they really put effort in packaging.

This is what the brush looks like. It's rather thin and long.

This is what the mascara looks like on my eyes. It makes my lashes quite long and it gives nice volume as well. This mascara does everything that a mascara should do. I like it!
Cheap, good quality,... Good job Essence!

Catrice Pure Shine colour lipbalm

You guys know I'm crazy about lipproducts. I recently got a new lipproduct: the Pure Shine Colour lip balm by Catrice. This is kind of like a big lip pencil (well I don't know the right name for it, I hear so many names all the time).

 

I think the packaging of this product looks good. The silver is a bit risky because it could end up looking cheap, I've always prefered black, but it's actually pretty.

The colour that I got is "My Cherry Berry". I think that's such a cute name, I love it! 

This is what it looks like. It's actually a little darker than my lips but it still looks natural. I wear this on the days that I don't want to wear lipstick. I mean, it's still a nice colour, it's just not that obvious and it doesn't get on your teeth.

Swatch! As you can see, the lipbalm is a bit sheer, which I don't mind because I expect lip pencils/lipbalms to be that way. Of course you can build up the intensity of the colour.

And this is how the product looks on my lips. Pretty, huh?

I'm totally excited and really amazed by this product. I think it's awesome; it looks good and it's not expensive. A big "yay" to Catrice, I will for sure collect more of these.

Essence I ♥ stage eyeshadow base review

Hello everyone! 

Spring is coming and I couldn't be more excited! Time for skirts, tops and hopefully fun at the beach.

Also time for a new eyeshadow base because I feel like my make-up creases faster in warm weather!

I got this new eyeshadow base by Essence. It's called the "I ♥ stage" eyeshadow base. 

 

This eyeshadow base looks a little bit like the Essence lipglosses. The packaging is okay, I don't think it's ugly. The applicator is similar to the applicators they use for their lipglosses.

 

This is what the eyeshadow base looks like. I was actually surprised by how dark it is, I mean, I'm quite pale and when I put this on my eyelid it looks like my eyelids are extremely tan and everything else it just white. Not that it causes big problems, you just put eyeshadow over it and it's gone.

I put my eyeshadow on in the morning and when I looked at my make-up in the afternoon, about 8 hours later, it still looked perfect. Nothing creased, not moved. Just the way I like it! 

I'm rather happy with this eyeshadow base. Aside from the fact that it's a little too dark for me (which I can hide with eyeshadow), I have no other remarks. This eyeshadow base costs €2.49.

In case you were wondering, the eyeshadow colours that I used for this look are "Woodwinked" by MAC on the lid and "Texture"  by MAC in the crease.

My eyeliner is by Essence and my highlighter colour is "Sassy" by The Balm.

Essence individual fake lashes review

False lashes. They can be a pleasure to wear but a nightmare to apply! The first time I ever tried it I was shaking because I was so stressed out after trying for so many times! I eventually gave up and promised myself to try it again later on. Since then I have probably only worn false lashes two times. Three times is the charm? We'll see!

I'm not really a huge fan of fake lashes. I love how they look and I can instantly tell if others are wearing them but the problem is that sometimes I get it right immediately and sometimes I'm struggeling so much! I have never tried fake individual eyelashes before but when I saw these at the Essence counter, I was very interested!

The fake lashes are packed in a little white box, it has four lines of fake lashes in different sizes and a mini glue. I like to use a tweezer to apply my lashes with, they are for sure a lot tinier and harder to grab with your fingers! When I use these, I put on about three or four individual lashes. You could apply more, I'm just trying to keep it natural and I think three to four does the trick. I place one (the longest) on the outer corner of my eyes, two on the middle and one very short one in the beginning of my eye, close to my inner tear duct.

This is how long they are from the sides. If you look closely you can see that I am wearing false lashes (my lashes aren't that long naturally) but I do think it still looks neutral.

This one in the middle fell off quite a lot! It turned out to be okay in the end though! The only thing that I have a remark on is the glue: it works fine, it gets transparant, the ony problem is you can still see the dots on my eyeliner because they are shiny transparant. Not a big deal, just a teeny tiny remark and I don't even think there's something you can do about it. Exept going over it with eyeliner again.

I am quite happy with the result, I do for sure enjoy individual lashes more than the full ones. I also think they look really great and they would even be appropriate for on a daily basis. Above all that, they are very inexpensive as well! Love!

EOTD: Before or after eight?

Hi! I tried to publish my post this morning with my phone but I guess it's not really working out, don't you think? I'm very sorry for this late upload! 

Recently I picked up this Catrice palette called "Before or after eight?". It's a palette with three neutral colours and one very bright blue eyeshadow. I fell in love with it immediately and took it home with me!

This is what the palette looks like. Breathtaking, right?
I used the lightest colour on my lid, the brown in my crease, the grey colour in the very outer corner and a blue eyeliner on my waterline. In order to keep the colour on my waterline as vibrant as possible, I put some blue eyeshadow over it - this is an optional step, you don't have to do this but it's a good trick. I did do it but I have to say my eyes are quite sensitive and they did turn red after a little while.

The eyeliner and mascara that I used are both by Essence.

Essence "Tropical Heat" shimmer powder review

Hello you guys! A little while ago I went beauty shopping. Surprisingly I only brought home four items. This was one of the items.

It's a shimmer powder/highlighter by Essence, called "Tropical Heat", and it's from the "Ticket to Paradise" collection.

The packaging is quite simple, as always. I do like the design of the shimmer powder, it does remind me of a tropical place, a Paradise, I think they did a very good job on that! You can recognize a couple of flowers and leaves from palm trees (at least that's what they look like to me). Wauw! I get so happy when I look at it (confessions of a beauty addict, haha!).

The shimmer powder is gold, which I think is very pretty. I prefer to wear warm colours like this, instead of cold colours like pink. I just think highlighter in summer is so much prettier if it has an orange/gold undertone to it.

This is what the shimmer powder looks like on my face. It wasn't as hard to photograph as I thought. As you can see, it's very subtile, yet pigmented very nicely.

I am very happy with this shimmer powder, I think it looks absolutely gorgeous and I've been using it every single day since I got it! So happy I could get my hands on this baby in time! I wish this wouldn't be a limited edition product, I feel like I would buy this every year, over and over again!

Catrice Photo Finish foundation review

Hi! In my last haul I showed you some new beauty buys, including this foundation by Catrice.

Now, I have never in my life tried a Catrice foundation before. I got a BB cream before and that was the first face product I ever got from them - I liked the BB cream so I thought trying the foundation would be a good idea.

The foundation I got is called the Catrice Photo Finish foundation. As it says on the bottle, it's a liquid foundation and it will last 18 hours.

The bottle is quite simple. It's see through matt glass, which I like, I think it's cute.

The colour that I got is "010 Sand Beige", which is the lightest colour they had. What can I say, I'm a pale girl! They have three other colours, so ladies who have a nice tan can benefit from this product as well!

This is what the foundation looks like on my hand. I'm using a tiny drop but it's enough to cover half of my hand. As you can see, this foundation has a yellow undertone. That's because it's such a light colour. I also have this with my BB cream. Other, darker foundations and BB creams have a pink undertone.

The texture of this foundation is very nice, it's creamy and easy to blend in. The foundation also covers really well!

And this is the end result... As you can see, the foundation blended in really well and it matches my skintone perfectly! 

I'm very content with the results of this foundation. I've tried about five different foundations in the few years that I started using makeup and this is one of the best ones I've tried.
I love it when a drugstore, cheap product turns out to be a great deal! Not much money, great quality. To die for!

Catrice absolute nude eyeshadow palette review

Hello you guys! How are you doing?

 Today I'm reviewing my newest and favourite nude palette.

I got this nude palette from Catrice. I have been searching this palette for a long time - it was very popular and it was always sold out. You can already guess how happy I am that I finally have it. I have been experimenting with it quite a lot lately and I have even found a new "everyday look". Would you like to see a tutorial?

So this is how my palette looks, I think it looks fabulous! It reminds me of the Urban Decay naked palette. It holds six nude colours.

Here are the swatches! The first picture is how the colours look with natural light and the second picture is how they look with flash.

The pigmentation could have been a little bit better. I don't have problems with getting the colours on my eyelid though. Easy to apply and blend, no fall out.

Aside from the remark that the pigmentation could have been a little bit better, I have no other remarks. I do really like this palette. It holds colours for any occasion and any kind of look, love it! I already want to get a second one, just in case I hit pan on one of the colours soon.

I would recommend this palette to everyone who is just starting out with makeup or to girls who just really like the neutral look on their face. This palette is really nice ànd affordable.

Essence get big lashes volume curl mascara review

Hello! Happy Saturday you guys! I hope you're all enjoying your weekend and getting ready for Monday.

If there's one thing I never skip in my makeup routine, it's my mascara. I like trying out new brands and mascaras so today I'm going to test a mascara that I got by Essence. I do have a lot of eyeshadow palettes by Essence but I never tried their mascara before....

 

The mascara I'm testing today is the Essence "get big lashes volume curl" mascara.

I do like the packaging, it's cute and girly and it got my attention rightaway.

The shape of the wand is a little bit different than what I'm used to. As you can see it's bend. This makes it a little easier to apply the mascara - and I guess it curls the lashes a little bit better too. I curl my lashes before applying mascara anyway so for me it doesn't make a big difference.

And here are the results of the mascara test...

The mascara is quite nice even though you have to be very careful with it. Two layers is the absolute maximum and even then you have to be careful not to get spider lashes. The mascara does make my lashes longer and darker. Volume? Hmm a little, but not so much.

Conclusion? I do like the mascara. It gives me the result I want and it's super budgetproof.
