New Look oval brush set!

How have all of you been? 

As always, I have been taking exams last month, which is why I have been a bit absent. It has given me time to try out products for a longer while though - which is good because now I can give you a full opinion on them.

The first thing I really wanted to review were these oval brushes that I got at New Look. Oval brushes were a bit weird to me when they first came out, I had no idea what the heck it was and why anyone would use it. I was even more surprised to see them at New Look. But I got the four-piece set for €10 and decided to give it a try.

This is what the brush set looks like. The brushes come in four different sizes. I like to use the biggest one for foundation and a smaller one for concealer.

 

As you can see the bristles are very close to each other, which means using a brush like this will give you good coverage. It also means that you have to watch out for cake face the first time you use a brush like this!

I've used the brush for a while now and I couldn't live without it anymore. It normally took up to five or even ten minutes to do my foundation with my hands or another brush (making sure everything looked even and there were no blank spaces), while this brush gives me the ability to do it in a few swipes. Just like that, in the blink of an eye.

I didn't think I'd like the oval bushes to be honest, but I have tried them and have been using them for over a month now and I was wrong.
If you get the chance to try these, I would definitely recommend them.

Catrice All Round Mascara review!

Good morning everyone! How are you doing?

I'm doing quite good these days, kicking it back old school and with not too much make-up. These last weeks I have skipped make-up quite often and I must admit, I don't have any problems with it anymore. It's so refreshing to go make-up free. 

Of course, I'm a beauty lover at heart and I won't try to convince you a little mascara can't do little miracles. In fact, if there was one thing I could use for the rest of my life, it'd probably be mascara.

A little really can go a long way. I do let my skin breathe more often than I did before, but a bit of mascara will always give your look a boost. 

Today I'm trying Catrice's All Round black mascara - one of the cheapest ones they have, but mascara doesn't have to be expensive. Drugstore mascaras, I find, are just as good as high end mascaras.

 This mascara comes in a red tube. It's nice to have a bit of colour in my collection, but other than that the packaging is quite "normal".

The brush isn't very exciting. It's got a small tip, which is good for inner and outer corners of the eyes. Other than that, it's pretty basic. I'm actually happy to see a mascara brush that doesn't look scary for once!



I wouldn't say I'm very surprised with the volume this mascara gives me. Length however, I can't complain about. I apply about two to three coats of mascara to get the best result.

Is it a good mascara? Yes, as a basic item, I do think so. I also think that if you're going to use three layers everytime you apply mascara, you might as well go for a little bit of a more expensive option and apply less layers each time, but that's personal. If you're a girl (or boy) that only applies one layer, by all means, go for it. I, personally, love some extra volume and will therefore look for a mascara with more volume.

However, for €2.99, I think we have to be fair and admit this is not a bad product at all.

Essence "Très Chic" lipstick review!

Dark lipsticks have been everyone's ride or die this fall and winter. The favourite one I picked up is my "Diva" lipstick by MAC, but a few days ago, I also picked up this lovely Essence lipstick. I don't know how I missed this everytime because damn, it is gorgeous!

The packaging is just the same regular Essence packaging that we're used to. Matte black material with details of the actual lipstick colour. Nothing very exciting. The colour, however, is really exciting! 

Here's what it looks like on my lips.

Absolutely stunning, that's what I think this lipstick is! 

This made me feel so posh rightaway! The texture is quite nice, it's very creamy and a big glossy but not too sparkly. I've worn it for about four hours and it was still on and in place. My lips were a bit dried out, but I'm not sure if that's because of the lipstick. I often have dry lips. 

I think this lipstick is absolutely amazing. For just a couple of Euros you can get yourself such a nice lipstick. If you're still looking for one (or if you want to try to see how it looks on you, without spending a fortune), I would for sure recommend this lipstick!

Covergirl powder review

A while back I mentioned in one of my posts that I was so disappointed with my first ever Covergirl product (which was an eyeshadow palette) that I wasn't sure if I would ever try one of their products again. First impressions are so important!

However, I decided to give Covergirl's products another chance. I found this translucent mineral powder and I wanted to test it.

This is what the packaging of the powder looks like. The jar is quite big, which is nice because I'll be able to use it for a long time. I also like the colour of the lid (I think it looks so classy) and the little Covergirl logo on there.

This is what the powder looks like if you open it up. I think the powder puff is very easy and very cute. Normally I don't use powder puffs because the powder will show up too much on my T-zone and then I feel like it looks messy, but this powder is translucent, which means you won't see it on your face (it'll only take away the oil and the shine).

I'm very happy with this powder. You don't need a lot so can be used for a long time, it does the job and it's not extremely expensive.

Catrice Intensive Eye Wet & Dry Shadow review

Hi sweeties! Remember a few weeks back when I hauled my newest Catrice Intensive Eye Wet & Dry Shadows? I wanted to have them because they're going out of the assortment. I have been playing around with them and I have been wearing the colours, but I haven't done a review yet. So that's what I'm going to do today. But first, take a peak at these beauties!

These colours are breathtaking, so so beautiful! Also, I like the packaging, the packaging is plastic with beautiful coloured letters on it (and the colours actually change when you move it in the sunlight, it's stunning).

The good thing is that they can be used both wet and dry. Now when they're dry, the pigmentation is nice already but when used wet, it's like "BOOM"!

The pigmentation looks great right? I love the colours! 

The picture below is a picture of how my makeup looks using these two eyeshadows when they're dry. The gold colour is on my lid and the other one is in my crease. I love to wear this on a daily basis. Most of the time I use these two eyeshadows in combination with each other but you can of course always use different eyeshadows as well!

Essence Metropolitan eyeshadow review

Hello! 

I'm back with another Essence mono eyeshadow review! Today I'm going to be reviewing a nice, brown colour called "Metropolitan", from the permanent Essence collection. I got this one from a friend, since she didn't use it, and I thought: "Why not give you my opinion on it?"

You never know, maybe you were standing at the makeup counter yesterday doubting about whether or not you should get this.

I'm not sure that I would buy this if I saw it in my makeup store. I think I would be doubting because it could be too dark. We'll see if my opinion on that changes later on!

I keep on talking about the packaging, even though most mono eyeshadows have thesame packaging. If it's in the permanent collection, it has a packaging like this. See through plastic with silver letters on it.

The eyeshadow is a brown with a little bit of sparkles in it. 

Time to swatch (this is always the most exciting/disappointing moment, it depends on the quality of the product, haha)! 

Wow, I did not expect this much pigment! Some drugstore eyeshadows are more pigmented than others and I'm pretty sure this is one of the more pigmented items. This is only one whipe you guys! I'm impressed! I don't think I'd wear this colour on a daily basis but it's cute for a party! As you can see there are a few sparkles in there but it's not discoball-ish or disturbing at all (in my opinion)!
