Essence Stay All Day foundation & concealer review!
For years now, my skin has been a bit of a problem. I am confident enough to walk out without make-up on my face. However, I do prefer a bit of foundation or concealer.
I'm always looking for a good new concealer and the last years I've been quite happy with Essence's foundations, BB creams and other face products. I have been testing their Stay All Day foundation and concealer for a month now, let's see what I think about these products!
The day before I shot the pictures for this article, I had a huge acne breakout, which wasn't great for me, but I'm sure it's good for you because you'll be able to see the result to the fullest.
Okay, make-up less face in the picture below. Biggest problem areas are my chin, left cheek and forehead.
I don't use primer or daycream or anything, because I notice I can't blend as well normally.
I use my hands to cover my face, brushes don't work so well with this foundation either. I don't use a beauty sponge but I do think that might work out as well.
I did struggle a bit with this foundation in the beginning, simply because I tried using primers and brushes first - which lead to some very weird structures on my face, but now it works out just fine for me.
The concealer works like a dream. It's a buildable concealer, so it's not cakey at all. I like to apply just one layer underneath my eyes.
I chose one shade lighter than the foundation. Occasionally I also use it for covering up blemishes on my face.
Below you can see my full face make-up. What a difference, don't you think?
I'm once again, very satisfied with the Essence face products.
Which foundations do you like/use?

1 2 3... Perfect?
I've always had a love/hate relationship with my skin. Some days I like how it looks. Some days I wake up, look at myself, and want to crawl back into bed.
I have recently had some problems with my skin ànd I also ran out of my holy grail BB cream. Some would say this is a bad day, I thought it was a reason to go shopping for new make-up!
There were so many different options, but I've never had a Bourjois foundation.Until now!
The cat was interested for sure! |
The packaging of this product is quite simple. I love the different colours on it. It says "1 2 3", and then it says which three functions this foundation should have.
I was quite interesting to see if the results were as nice as promised!
When I first used this foundation, I noticed that maybe the shade was a little too yellow for me. It did work out just fine though.
This is what my face looks like after using the foundation. It's quite nice! I'm used to wearing a BB cream so I thought my foundation would feel "heavier" but actually, it doesn't feel heavy at all. The foundation covers most of my blemishes, it's medium coverage, but if I really have an acne break out or a tough spot, I need to go in with additional concealer.
I'm happy with the foundation! Maybe next time I could get another shade but everything else worked out as good as I hoped it would!
I paid €15.99 for this foundation. It is one of the more expensive foundations in the drugstore, but it works great!

True Match foundation review
A couple of years ago, when I was still a rookie at make-up, I bought my first foundation in Amsterdam.
It was the L'Oréal True match foundation. Back then I didn't know much about makeup, I thought every foundation had good coverage, but over the years I have tested a lot of foundations and I have learned that not all products on the market are good products.

Now, a couple of years later, the more experienced version of myself has returned to the L'Oréal counter to the True Match foundation again. I wanted to start using it again. Just because I have such good memories of it. Of course I don't want to keep my experiences from you.

I think the packaging of this foundation is cute. It's shiny with a lot of different fonts which makes it a little bit exciting. The only thing that you might perhaps have a problem is, is that the bottle is glass. I personally don't have any problems with that. Oh, and this foundation also has a pump which is so handy!
The colour that I got is called "Rose Beige". It's the second to lightest colour in the collection. I think the lightest colour would suit me a little better but when I do use a light foundation people ask me if I'm sick all the time.

Above you can see what the foundation looks like when it's just out of the bottle. It's not too cakey but it's also not too watery.
Below you can see what the foundation looks like after blending it out. The colour now looks like it suits me much more. It blends right in with my skintone and leaves no spots or dark areas. Right now
I can't show you what it does to acne because I don't have any at the moment (thank God!). Even though the coverage is quite nice, I do continue to use concealer underneath my eyes. What can I say, I have really bad, dark circles.
If you're interested, you can find this foundation in any drugstore!

Catrice All Matt plus shine controle foundation review
A few weeks I decided I wanted to try a new foundation by Catrice called the "All matt plus" foundation, which should work against oily skin and shine. Of course, that sounded interesting to me and so I took it with me. Now what do I think of it?

I love the packaging of this foundation. Catrice has a lot of matt glass foundation packages and I don't know why but I always like the look of that! This foundation promises to be mattifying, longlasting and oil free.
I got the colour "Nude Beige", which is the second lightest colour. I decided not to go for the lightest 0because I'm already very pale and I'm tired of the "are you feeling sick?" questions.
As you can see the foundation covers quite well, I think it looks good! Luckely, it matches my skintone!
Even though the foundation promises to be "super matt", I still think a bit of mattifying powder is in order. There is still a bit of shine. You could, if you wanted to, only use powder on your T-zone and use the shine as a natural "glow" on your cheekbones. I myself am not a big fan so I just like to use powder all over.
Aside from the "all matt shine control" that wasn't 100%, I have no other negative remarks. My skin has been reacting very well to this product and I enjoy using it. Another budget hit for Catrice, yay!

Catrice Photo Finish foundation review
Hi! In my last haul I showed you some new beauty buys, including this foundation by Catrice.
Now, I have never in my life tried a Catrice foundation before. I got a BB cream before and that was the first face product I ever got from them - I liked the BB cream so I thought trying the foundation would be a good idea.
The foundation I got is called the Catrice Photo Finish foundation. As it says on the bottle, it's a liquid foundation and it will last 18 hours.
The bottle is quite simple. It's see through matt glass, which I like, I think it's cute.
The colour that I got is "010 Sand Beige", which is the lightest colour they had. What can I say, I'm a pale girl! They have three other colours, so ladies who have a nice tan can benefit from this product as well!

This is what the foundation looks like on my hand. I'm using a tiny drop but it's enough to cover half of my hand. As you can see, this foundation has a yellow undertone. That's because it's such a light colour. I also have this with my BB cream. Other, darker foundations and BB creams have a pink undertone.
This is what it looks like when you rub it open...
The texture of this foundation is very nice, it's creamy and easy to blend in. The foundation also covers really well!
And this is the end result... As you can see, the foundation blended in really well and it matches my skintone perfectly!

I'm very content with the results of this foundation. I've tried about five different foundations in the few years that I started using makeup and this is one of the best ones I've tried.
I love it when a drugstore, cheap product turns out to be a great deal! Not much money, great quality. To die for!

Maybelline FIT me foundation swatches + review
Hi guys!
Yes, as you can read in the title, I did break my makeup challenge. I finished two foundations and got another one. The only reason I did this is because I have been suffering from acne again recently and I prefer covering it up a little bit.
So yes, I got a new foundation. It's called "Fit me" and it's by Maybelline. I'm pretty pale so I got nr 115, which is the lightest colour, I believe.
This foundation has SPF 15.
I do like this foundation, you don't need a lot and it covers good. I do still need to use concealer after applying foundation so it's not like it's a miracle product but it's good for a drugstore brand foundation.
The foundation has silicones in it, so people with sensitive skin might want to be careful with this. Silicones can make you break out easily. I haven't had more problems than usual with my skin.
This is the amount that comes out if you pump it once.
And this is how it looks if you rub it open, I use a makeup primer first and then I work with a makeup sponge to blend it all in.
Have a good day!

The ten products makeup challenge!
Hi everyone! In my post about "2013 goals" I told you I wanted to stop buying a lot of makeup and just use what I had.
That's why I'm going to do the 10 products makeup challenge. The 10 products makeup challenge is quite a known challenge, because a lot of beauty addicted people try it.
Basically you just try to empty 10 products before you buy anything else.
I'm very curious if I'll be able to hold on and actually finish this challenge. I think I'll be very proud if I do and I might go shopping after the last drop of my last product!
Wish me luck!

Basically you just try to empty 10 products before you buy anything else.
The first product is the L'oréal Youth Code Luminizer. I got it in one of my Deauty boxes and I use this on a daily basis. |
Another product that I've been using for quite a while, and I still use it on a daily basis: the L'oréal True Match Foundation. I have the colour "Rose Beige". |
Again, another daily used product, my L'oréal Black Smoke Volume mascara. I got this in a Deauty box as well. |

The next thing that I'm going to empty before getting anything else is my gel eyeliner! I use the Essence "Midnight in Paris" gel eyeliner. |
And another Deauty box product.... This is Kiehl's lipbalm. Love it! I loved it too much to use it at first, but why not use it when you need it? I mean, I could always get another one! |
Wish me luck!
