Travel Diary: Villa Adriana

Happy Monday!

I hope you don't have any Monday blues this week.
I wouldn't say I have Monday blues today, but I am feeling a bit sad looking at today's post - in this post, I'm going back to Villa Adriana in Tivoli (Italy) and I just wish I could actually go back instead of through pictures.

Villa Adriana is one of my favourite places in Italy. It takes about an hour to get there and when you're in the train, you're treated to spectacular views.

Villa Adriana is a huge residence that King Hadrian had built and it's absolutely gorgeous. There's a palace, libraries, theatres, a pool, altars, a sports stadium, an art gallery and much more!
The buildings that you find here are just a little leftover of what used to be there. It's mindblowing to see. I couldn't help but wonder how man, so tiny and vulnerable, can build such great things.

The first thing we saw when we walked in was this model.
It shows what you can find in Villa Adriana and just seeing this already blew my mind. Very exciting!

We've actually spent the whole day in Tivoli, taking your time to walk around and see everything is a must for sure!

Have a look!

I've never in my life seen something like this and I'm so happy and thankful to have had this experience! This is something I'll never forget.

If you ever get the chance to go see Villa Adriana in real life; don't hesitate to do it. It really is worth it!

Thanks for reading!
Have a lovely day!

Travel Diary: Forum Romanum

Good morning everyone! Thanks for tuning in again today!
Let me take you on a short trip. Today, I'll be showing you one of my favourite places in Rome: Forum Romanum.

Forum Romanum used to be the buzzing center of ancient Rome. It's filled with ruins these days and even though the buildings aren't intact anymore, they are very impressive.
The picture below is a picture of what the old city center looks like from a 'bird's perspective'. I actually didn't realise how much ruins there were until I shot this picture.

I can't help but wonder what this must have looked like in the past?
Sometimes I really wish time travelling was a thing. It's so breathtaking now, I can't imagine what it was like back then.

Let the pictures blow your mind!

You can easily spend a whole day exploring Forum Romanum. We spent the whole morning, and after that we went to the Colosseum.
You literally just have to cross the street to get to the Colosseum, so that's quite nice.

This place is for sure in my top three of favourite places to see in Rome.
Have you ever been there? What are your favourite places in Rome (if you've been there)? Or where would you like to go?

Thanks for reading!

OOTD: Roman goddess

Channeling your inner goddess is very necessary every once in a while. The normal, daily and sometimes boring routines can make you lack inspiration.  I can reinvent myself through fashion and make-up. I love the fact that a new eye look, some lipstick, a different hair do or a new pair of shoes can make you feel like a totally different person.

Just before leaving to go to Rome - which was a much needed break from my own routines - , I picked up a long, white maxi dress. Simple, yet elegant - and I remember feeling like a true goddess when I put it on for the first time.

I wore this dress to Vatican City, where it is required to cover up - but walking around in this dress - I didn't mind covering up at all.
My dress is from Pimkie. There's some gold detailing around the neck. That's why I decided to put on gold sandals and my gold watch.

I hope you've enjoyed watching these pictures. Below, I have a couple more. This time, I'm behind the camera instead of in front of it.

See you soon!

Travel Diary: Vatican City

One of the higlights of going to Rome, was seeing the Vatican. The Vatican is a city-state, which means technically you're in another country.

We had quite a bit of trouble getting inside because even though everything was registered beforehand, they didn't believe it once we got to security.
Anyways, after about one hour, we got inside. If you want to go to Vatican City, keep in mind that you need to wear clothes that cover your shoulders and legs. (My outfit of the day will be online in a couple of days ;) .)

Inside, there were tons and tons of statues, it was absolutely amazing to see all of that. It was forbidden to take pictures in some parts of the Vatican, so that's why this post is not in depth about some works of art.

This statue is a statue of Octavus, also known as Octavianus and later on known as Augustus. We've seen a lot about him in history class and I think it was so cool that we got to see the statue for real!

In the middle of the garden, you can see a huge globe, with on the inside a complex structure. It represents the problems that the world has to deal with. It's really impressive and quite worth to take a good look at.
You might have to wait a bit because the tourists are swarming around it trying to get a selfie! :)

We came across a few hallways and rooms that were decorated with Egyptian statues. I absolutely love the Egyptian culture and their mythology, so of course I got excited about this!

To be honest, I was completely overwhelmed by Vatican City.
There's something to see everywhere you look. The paintings are gorgeous, but you can't watch them in detail because other tourists will want to look around or because you'll get backpain.

We were actually asked to leave because they wanted to close for the day, so I'd give you the advice to go early!

This painting.... So so gorgeous! Look at the colours!

That's it for this post! It's a bit longer than most of my posts, but it's worth checking out, I think.
Let me know what you think!

Have a lovely day!
